According to Stoner, the motivation is a characteristic of human psychology that contributes to a person's degree of commitment. It includes factors that cause, channel and sustain human behavior in a particular and committed sense. The motivation is the Administrative process of influencing people's behavior, based on knowledge of "what makes people work."

We have various models related to motivation, one of them the model of human relations is usually linked to Elton Mayo and his contemporaries, he mentions that boredom and repetition of many tasks, in fact, decreased motivation, while contacts Social activities served to create motivation and sustain it.

On the other hand, needs theory focuses on what people require to lead rewarding lives. For Maslow, human motivation constituted a hierarchy of 5 needs: physiological, security, belonging, esteem and self realize.

Returning to Stoner, the person's behavior will depend on the types of results expected. Some of the latter act as intrinsic rewards. Some examples would be the feeling of accomplishment, the increase in self-esteem and the satisfaction of developing new skills. On the other hand, an external agent, for example a supervisor or work group, is the one that offers the extrinsic rewards, such as bonuses, praise or promotions.
